Why giving your skin a detox is important.

You may be wondering, why would you need to give your skin a detox? Well, simply because of the many times your skin has been exposed to pollution, product build up, chemicals in the water or cigarette smoke. Further more the times you may have over indulged in every possible way from dinner parties, barbecues (I went to three in one day) birthday parties, holidays to meeting up with friends where food and drink are always involved. These factors contribute to the build up of toxic substances in our bodies and in our skin.

Start your skin detox by preparing your surroundings and place candles around the room. Candles which contain aromatherapy oils can have a positive effect on your wellbeing, while at the same time creating a soft, lit atmosphere and relaxing mood. Continue to create your spa environment by playing calming music ready to enjoy your relaxing and soothing facial.

Step 2 Enjoy a relaxing facial.

Give yourself a facial and use products that will cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturise your skin, additionally apply a mask which will help to draw out impurities from your skin, and give yourself a facial massage to help stimulate cell renewal, increase blood circulation, reduce puffiness and releases tension in the face. Once you have exfoliated your skin, apply a seaweed or detoxifying body mud mask to the body, there are so many on the market but choose one which contain the right ingredients. Seaweed, kaolin clay, aloe, minerals and red algae are ingredients that you should look out for. Leave the product on the skin for at least twenty minutes and shower off. . Step 5 take a nice warm bath.

As your detox journey comes to an end, pour a small amount of oil into the bath.The warmth of the bath and the oil together will help ease knots, tension and tight muscles, relax for at least twenty to thirty minutes. Step 6 apply a hydrating moisturising body cream.
